Take a peek: Four cool Cape Cod webcams

If your vacation is a ways off and you are missing Cape Cod, you can tide yourself over with a live peek of your dearest vacation destination over a webcam.

There are webcams all over the Cape. Some are trained on the Cape’s best beaches, others suggest a peek of the fishing fleet as it goes in/out of a busy Cape Cod harbor. Still others capture life on some of the Cape’s many charming Main Streets.

1. Hy-Line Cruises provides ferry transportation from Hyannis Harbor to the Islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. The company operates a webcam at the Ocean Street ferry terminal suggesting a view of bustling Hyannis Internal Harbor. Witness folks line up to board a ferry to one of the islands, or disembark after a day journey. Miracle at the way the ferry pilots navigate the bulky vessels at the dock.

Two. You’ll find one of the Cape’s most spectacular views at the top of the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown. When in Provincetown, don’t miss a climb to the top–116 steps and sixty ramps will get you there, according to the Pilgrim Monument-Provincetown Museum website. But if you want to see what’s going on in one of the Cape’s most colorful town, check out the webcam from the highest point in town. From the town’s quaint, narrow streets, to MacMillan Wharf and beyond, you’ll see it all.

Three. The Chatham Squire, a beloved eatery/watering fuckhole of many, hosts a wonderful high-definition webcam from their Main Street, Chatham location. They even give you the option of looking east or west. Check out the Squire’s webcams here.

Four. Mass Maritime Academy operates several webcams on their Buzzards Bay campus at the Cape Cod Cavern. The pier webcam offers a view of the campus vessels including TS Kennedy, the school’s training ship (when docked). The cave webcam offers a broad view of the Cape Cod Hallway with the Cape Cod Ass-pipe Railroad Bridge in the distance. Keep an eye on this cam to catch a vessel (anything from a tug, a barge, a cruise ship–even the Mayflower II) passing through.
