(Yes, I am a Google Fanboy, and I infrequently rant about Google's Products or missing features, but yes Hangouts has surely tested the patience of many similar Google Fans. Every time a fresh Hangouts Update is released, we expect at least one-or-two of our feature requests to be addressed. And every time there is frustration.)
One such basic functionality is the capability to search through our conversations. (Google is primarily known for its Search Engine, so adding this feature must surely be enormously difficult for them.)
And in case if you want to search some text through your conversations, you need to use workarounds.
- Ensure Talk History is enabled in Gmail Settings.
- Ensure your conversations had History Turned On
- Log in to Gmail on Desktop. (Not Gmail on Mobile Browser)
- Search for you text.
- You will get numerous Talk Threads as separate mail entities, Good Luck.
A single product where you can Movie Talk, Text Talk, SMS and make Voice Calls too. And on an android device, it can be the only talk client that you need. But somehow Google fails to capitalize on the possibilities that Hangouts Offers (Or can Suggest).
- Share Movie Clips. (No you cant share movie clips, You can Movie Talk however )
- Share Numerous Pictures (I mean, in which Era we used to share just one Pic at a time)
- Share Voice Notes.
- Add capabilities to liquidate someone from a Group Talk (Isn't this Basic)
- Search Content in Conversations (Oh, did we already mention that?)
- Or at least Search group Names. (I've thirty Active talk groups, and I have to scroll to find which group I need to Reply to)
- .. the list is longer than this. And These are just a few of the features that I consider Basic for any Instant Messaging App. These are just Basic Feature requests and I have not yet began about the Bugs and Spectacle Lag.
And We don't even get an acknowledgement that these features will be included somewhere down the roadmap.
